Uttarakhand thrashes J&K by 9 wkts

JAMMU, Feb 15: Jammu and Kashmir suffered a humiliating defeat by 9 wickets against Uttarakhand in the CK Nayudu Under-23 Boys Cricket Tournament at MA Stadium, here today.
Winning the toss and batting first, J&K bundled out for 120 runs in the first innings. Sunil Kumar top scored with 47 runs, while Kanhaiya Wadhawan contributed 42 runs to the total. Lone Nasir Muzaffar also contributed 17 runs to the total. The remaining eight batsmen were sent back to the pavilion without scoring. Himanshu Bisht was the pick of the Uttarakhand bowlers, who took 4 wickets, while Bora, Jagmohan Nagarkoti and Harman claimed 3, 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
In reply, Uttarakhand rode on brilliant 56 runs by skipper Ajit Singh Rawat and scored 197 runs in their first innings. V Kashyap (45), Avneesh Sudha (37) and Himanshu Bisht (27) were the other main contributors. From Jammu and Kashmir, Vivrant Sharma took 5 wickets, while Lone Nasir Muzaffar bagged 3 wickets and Umran Malik claimed 1 wicket.
Jammu and Kshmir, in the second essay managed to score 11 runs to set a target of 35 runs for Uttarakhand. Muneeb Munaf scored 31 runs, while skipper Vivrant Sharma and Sunil Kumar contributed 23 and 20 runs to the total respectively. Harman was the wrecker-in-chief for Uttarakhand, who took 6 wickets, while Bora and Himanshu Bisht claimed 2 wickets each.
Uttarakhand chased the target in style, scoring 38 runs in 5.1 overs, losing 1 wicket in the process, thus won the match by 9 wickets. V Kashyap top scored with unbeaten 26 runs, while Himanshu Bisht was unbeaten on 5 at the time of victory.
