Vajra Corps rescued 2,125 people from flood-affected areas in J&K

CHANDIGARH :  The Engineer Task Force of Vajra Corps along with the medical teams continued with its relief and rescue operations at Srinagar for the fourth day today  and rescued more than 2,125 personnel from flood-affected  areas so far.
Relief columns concentrated its operations in worst affected areas of Jawahar Nagar and Mehjoor Nagar. Relief and rescue operations in Hatf Chinar area has also been boosted up with additional rescue boats.    The flood relief aid initiative undertaken by the Vajra Corps has driven people of Punjab to come forward and contribute for the flood victims. So far, almost 96 tonnes of relief aid, comprising of mineral water, meals ready to eat (MRE), blankets, clothes and medicines, has been collected as  volunteer contribution by the formations of Vajra Corps from Jalandhar, Amritsar, Meerut, Ferozpur and Ludhiana and from the people of Jalandhar City.
Military aircraft are transporting this relief aid to the affected areas in Srinagar.
