SRINAGAR, Sept 14: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil in a statement alleged that for the last consecutive two years Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited has been made a hub of backdoor and illegal appointments by the PDP in the garb of being an autonomous organization.
He said on the recommendations and at the behest of PDP leaders a good number of persons have been illegally appointed in the said bank without following the requisite recruitment procedures or advertising the posts.
Vakil said that most deserving and qualified have been ignored and left out as no opportunity was provided to them to compete. He demanded a high level probe into these illegal appointments through a sitting high court judge so that truth can come to fore.
He alleged that the present dispensation has failed to take any stringent or deterrent measures to curb the menace of corruption, nepotism and favoritism in the State which has been a root cause of the backwardness, political instability and alienation in the State. He blamed PDP-BJP coalition of following the footsteps of previous corrupt regimes because it has till date failed to tackle with seriousness or with iron hand the disease of corruption and favoritism.
He also said that a number of former ministers raised disproportionate wealth and assets during their respective tenures through intentional corrupt practices and also succeeded to impede inquiries and investigations besides insulated themselves from every type of legal action. Demanding the immediate confiscating of the assets of all such ex-Ministers, bureaucrats, middle level Officers whose names have figured in embezzlements, scams or land grabbing etc. till date, Vakil said, adding that proceedings should be started without any inordinate delay.
