* Technical fault in floodlights abandons AG’s XI-K Maharaja tie

SRINAGAR, July 31: Valley Football Club, Royal Sports and Jahangir Sports registered emphatic victories, while Bismillah Football Club held Zahid FC to (1-1) draw and the match between AG’s XI and Kashmir Maharaja was abandoned due to technical fault in floodlights in the ongoing Annual League Football Tournament, being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at Polo Ground West and Synthetic Turf TRC, here.
In the first match at Polo Ground West, Valley FC defeated Shanglipora FC by three goals to one (3-1), while in another match at the same venue, Bismillah FC held Zahid FC to (1-1) draw and in yet another match at this venue, Royal Sports defeated Young Mohammedan FC by two goals to nil (2-0).
At Synthetic Turf TRC Ground, the first match was played between Fortview FC and Jahangir Sports of Super Division. Jahangir Sports took the lead in 16th minute of the first half. The goal was scored by Wajahat. In 31st minute of the first half, Rouf Ahmad of Jahangir Sports scored another goal from a direct corner kick, thus Jahangir Sports was leading by two goals at the halftime. In the 55th minute of 2nd half, Uzair of Fortview scored a goal, however, Jahangir Sports scored back to back goals through Sameer, Rouf and Wajahat to make it (5-1) in their favour.
The second match of Premier Division was played between Accountant General Office Football Team (AG’s XI) and Kashmir Maharaja Sports. Both the teams were introduced to Accountant General, who was the chief guest on the occasion. The match appeared to be of fluctuating fortunes. The first half ended in a goalless draw. The second half of the match began with a brisk note. K. Maharaja Sports dominated in the beginning and their attacks were repulsed by the solid defence of AG’s XI. A brilliant move by AG’s XI players paid them the dividends. Amanjot Singh scored a marvellous goal in the 70th minute of the match.
It was the first ever official match played under floodlights and the spectators cherished the moments, however, unfortunately there was a power break-down repeatedly because of a technical fault, which forced in abandonment of the match.
The tournament is being organized by the District Football Association Srinagar, Medical Partner Rahim Green and Football Sponsor Sports International (VECTOR).
