JAMMU, Oct 22: Various social, educational and others organizations across the State celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, with great enthusiasm, religious fervor and in eco-friendly manner.
In connection with Diwali, Central Mahajan Sabha, Jammu, organized a function at Mahajan Sabha, Purani Mandi, Jammu. The function was largely attended by the office bearers. A rangoli competition for children was also organized on the occasion and sweets distributed among them. While speaking on the occasion, president of the Sabha, Vinod Gupta, highlighted the activities of social society formed by Lala Hans Raj Mahajan, women and child welfare society and urged all the communities to follow the path of Sher-e-Duggar.
To add to its listeners’ celebration 92.7 BIG FM Jammu celebrated Diwali on radio for whole week in the form of “The Big Family Game”. Some lucky listeners who were shortlisted after registration played this game in which two families competed to win the title and be awarded with a bumper prize but no family lost the game as there was a special prize for the other family too. Also an online contest was also held through the big FM facebook page ‘92.7 BIG FM Jammu’. All these winners were gratified with their respective prizes today in a grand finale held at Sainik Colony.
Lovely Professional University, Distance Education, Amphalla Centre (Jammu) celebrated Diwali by organizing a rangoli competition in the school premises. The students enthusiastically participated in the competition and prepared colourful rangolis on the theme ‘Diwali’ by using eco-friendly colours. The winners of the competition were awarded with prizes. In the end, sweets were distributed among the students and staff members.
A rangoli competition was also organized in Bhargava Degree College, Samba in connection with Diwali celebrations. The students of various classes participated and displayed their skills by making beautiful rangolis. The winners were awarded by chairman of the college, who was the chief guest on the occasion. He along with secretary of the college wished a happy and prosperous Diwali to all students and staff members.
KC International School celebrated Diwali in a unique way. In a special assembly organized in the school premises, Drama Club presented one act play on safe and eco-friendly Diwali. There was class decoration event. All the children participated enthusiastically in all the events. Inter house rangoli competition was also organized in which Sapphire House stood first. Earlier, the vice-chairman and principal of the school, Dr Ravi Bhushan and guest parents lighted the lamp and started the competition. While speaking on the occasion, the principal motivated students to celebrate Diwali in eco-friendly manner.
Students and staff of Delhi Public School (DPS), Katra today celebrated Diwali with the officers and jawans of 6th Battalion of CRPF, Katra. The students of DPS presented festive items including pooja, dances and skits which were fully enjoyed by the jawans as they were feeling as home away from home. Sunil Kumar, Commandant, Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commandant, R K Verma, Principal and Vandna Sharma, Headmistress, DPS, Katra, other officers and around two hundred jawans and DPS students were present on the occasion. The principal in his speech advised the students to celebrate safe and pollution free Diwali. The programme concluded with the distribution of sweets to the jawans.
May Fair Higher Secondary School organized an inter-house rangoli competition for the students of Classes 10th, 11th and 12th on the eve of Diwali. The competition was won by Challenge House. The students also decorated their class rooms with diyas and candles. Chairman of the school, Vijay Basur felicitated the winners of rangoli competition with certificates and prizes and stressed upon the students to celebrate crackers-free Diwali.
A function was also organized in Shakti Niketan Higher Secondary School, Kanhal, Bishnah (Jammu) to celebrate Diwali. The students decorated the whole school with flowers, diyas and rangolis. They also with staff members offered prayers to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. The principal of the school, wished everyone a happy Diwali and advised the students to celebrate Diwali without crackers, which pollute the environment. The function ended with sharing of sweets with each other.
Cricket trainees of MA Stadium and other sportspersons also celebrated Diwali with religious fervour and gaiety at MA Stadium. Candles and ‘diyas’ were lit by the sportspersons on the occasion, which was followed by bursting of crackers and distribution of sweets. They wished each other a prosperous and peaceful life.
An inter-House rangoli-making competition was conducted in the premises of Humanity Public School, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana (Jammu) in connection with the Diwali celebrations. The students made colourful rangolis depicting beautiful pictures of “Ganesh ji, Kalash, Kumbh, Peacock, etc, and winners were awarded with prizes. Earlier, the competition started with Lakshmi Pujan by students and staff members. Thereafter the principal of the institution, Gaurav Charak highlighted the importance of the colours in one’s life. He also motivated the students to celebrate crackers-free Diwali.
Students and staff members of RM Public School celebrated Diwali with great fervor and gaiety. The programme started with lighting of traditional lamp by chairman of the school, Rameshwar Mengi followed by recitation of Gayati Mantra by one and all. The students sang songs and danced on the tunes of drum. The function ended with vote of thanks by principal, Ravinder Kour, who advised the students and staff members to celebrate eco-friendly Diwali.
Kartar Public School celebrated festival of lights with great zeal. The various events like bunting-making, clay modeling, rangoli-making, best out of waste, diya decoration, stove painting and classroom decoration were organized for the students and the best entries were rewarded by prizes. Chairman, Kartar Educational Trust (KET), Nirmaljit Singh, while speaking on the occasion told the students about the importance of celebrating Diwali. He further added the significance of Truth and values in today’s life.
Maduvan Kids Play Way School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu, celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm and religious fervor. The students decorated the school premises with lights, candles, earthen lamps and rangolis and offered prayers to Goddess Lakshmi. Speaking on the occasion, principal, Amrit Choudhary, wished a happy and safe Diwali to students as well as staff members. The programme concluded with distribution of gifts among the students and staff members.
The festival of lights was also celebrated in SS Kids Care Play Way School, Lakkar Mandi, Janipur (Jammu). A special assembly was organized on the occasion in which the students and teachers performed Aarti and Pooja of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. Speaking on the occasion, principal of the school advised the kids not to buy and burst crackers, which cause air and noise pollution.
Apple Kids, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu, celebrated Diwali with gaiety and religious fervor. The students wearing colourful dresses along with teachers offered prayers to Goddess Lakshmi and then decorated their classrooms with lights and candles. The principal of the school told the students about the facts behind celebration of Diwali and advised everyone to celebrate safe and eco-friendly Diwali.
