Various Organisations, Institutions celebrate Gandhi Jayanti with traditional fervour

JAMMU, Oct 2: Various Organisations and Educational Institutions celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Sahstri with traditional fervour and enthusiasm, today.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga and Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with the specially-abled school children of Model High School (MHS) Solina, an institute for the visually and hearing impaired children and Chotay Taray Foundation (CTF) Baghat, an institute for mentally and physically challenged children.
The celebrations were part of the nation-wide celebrations celebrating the 148th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi as well as to pay tribute to his timeless contributions and struggles.
Vice Chairman J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB), Mansoor Hussain Sohrawardhy, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Department, Shalaindra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary School Education Department, Farooq Ahmad Shah and CEO JK KVIB were also present on the occasion.
A function was held at PCC HQ Shaheedi Chowk Jammu to celebrate the birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bhadur Shastri. The function was organized by District Congress Committee Jammu Urban under the leadership of  Anil Chopra and attended by Senior leaders of PCC, Youth Congress, Seva Dal, Mahila Congress, District Congress Committee and Block Congress Committees. Raman Bhalla,  (Former Minister) Vice-President PCC presided over the function while a good number of Congress leaders was present on the occasion.
Paying floral tributes to Father of the Nation on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Congress today held an extraordinary meeting of Senior Party Leaders and workers to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti at Congress Party Headquarters Srinagar. The Party leaders and workers highlighted the sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi and described him as an apostle of peace and best human being, who even sacrificed his life for the Nation. The meeting was presided over by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir.
Congress Party, Youth Congress Kishtwar and Gandhi Global Family Kishtwar unit paid tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 148th birth anniversary. In a function held in Kishtwar in which Senior Congress leaders including Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Gandhi Global family president Kishtwar district, Mohd Aslam Malik, and others were present. Congress leaders recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s contributions in the struggle for achieving of freedom.
National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Monday paid glowing tributes to the Father of Nation, saying people should take a pledge to realize the dream of Mahatma Gandhi by making this nation a better place to live in. “Gandhiji believed in non-violence, relevance of which is more than ever before in the present day world in general and in our country in particular, which is braving many challenges”, Mr Rana said after paying floral tributes to the Mahatma at a function here this morning, adding that there is immense need to understand and implement Gandhian philosophy of truth and non-violence.
Addressing largely attended monthly meeting of office bearers, delegates and prominent local leaders of J&K National Conference Block Marh, Former Minister and Senior leader National Conference,  Ajay Sadhotra paid rich tributes to the father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on his 148th birthday. Mr Sadhotra said that the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi cannot be forgotten as he was instrumental in making India independent.
A function was organized by Senior Congress leader and INTUC state secretary Sumeet Magotra in which Ex- MLA Chenani Assembly Constituency Krishan Chander Bhagat was the chief guest. On this occasion rich tributes were paid to father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and beloved Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with enthusiasm here today. The function was presided over by Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh NCP chief J&K state. While addressing a large gathering here today Mr Singh said that best tributes to be paid to the Father of the Nation on his 148th Birth Anniversary, is to fight out against the corruption which is like cancer in the society.
Modern Montessori International School (London) celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with enthusiasm and fervour in its school premises, here today. The programme began with the speech of Class Mentor of Play Group, Anshu Verma, who threw light on the history and life of Mahatama Gandhi. It was followed by a variety of cultural and allied items presented by the school children. Principal, MMI (London), Pragya Gupta applauded the efforts of the staff and students for their good show.
Gandhi Global Family organised “Peace Festival” to pay obeisance to father of nation on his birthday anniversary at Diwan-e-Aam Mubarak Mandi, here. Divisional Commissioner Jammu,   Dr Mandeep K Bhandari,   presided over the peace festival. In his presidential address, Dr. Bhandari said that it is very difficult to achieve external peace unless we achieve the internal peace which is only possible through meditation, tolerance and patience. Padamshree Dr SP Varma, president GGF presented welcome address.
Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organised Swachchata Hi Seva on the occasion of Swachcha Bharat Diwas/Gandhi Jayanti. The event was held in the boys’ hostel lawn in Sainik Colony where the chief guest, Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor flagged off the cleaning activities. A floral tribute was paid to the Father of Nation.
Zonal leprosy Office in collaboration with Chief Medical Office, Jammu and HEB Section, DHS Jammu organized ‘Kushth Mukti Abhiyaan Rath Yatra’ on 148th birth anniversary of Gandhi Ji to create awareness among general masses about Leprosy.
Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, Chairman Peace Foundation & Chief Spokesperson Association of Peoples of Asia (APA) paid tribute on the birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Mr Bhat said that Gandhi Ji was one of the top-most leaders responsible for leading India’s freedom movement.
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) today celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in a different way by organizing a Free Eye check-up Camp for Truckers at Ban Toll Plaza on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.This initiative was the part of all India campaign of NHAI for the welfare of Truck Drivers. Sunil Dimple, president Jammu West Assembly Movement paid rich floral tributes to the father of the nation Mahtam Gandhi Ji and Lal Bahdur Shastri Ji. In his address said that we should fallow the path shown by Mahatama Gandhi Ji.
NCC and NSS of Govt SPMR College of commerce remembered Father of the Nation on his 148th birth anniversary and also remembered Lal bahadur Shastri who gave slogan of Jai Jawan Jai Kissan. On this occasion Principal staff and the students took a pledge to adopt non violence as motto of life.
The NSS Volunteers and NCC Cadets of Govt PG College Rajouri jointly celebrated Gandhi Jyanti under the patronage and directions of the College Principal-Dr J A Qazi and leadership of Dr. Naseem A. Malik- the NSS Programme Officer. The staff and students were present on the occasion. A detailed light was thrown on the Truth and Non-Violence propounded by Gandhi ji-the Father of Nation.
The NSS Unit of Ramisht College of Education Basohli organized a sanitation drive on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti today, under the Swacch Bharat Abhyian started by Government of India. The chairman of the College applauded the efforts of the volunteers and inspired them to organize such programs in future also.
Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur, Bantalab, Jammu (A Unit Of Hindu Education Society Kashmir Regd.) celebrated Gandhi Jayanti  with enthusiasm, commitment, and sobriety.  The programme started with traditional lighting of lamp by incharge Principal GMCEJ, Prof. Satish Talashi,   along with staff of GMCEJ. Floral tributes were paid to the Father of the Nation on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Prof HL Misri deliberated upon Gandhiji’s struggle against social injustice and racism.
On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Nat Manch today staged a Dogri play “Paani Da Mull” at the Institution of Engineers Local Centre Channi Himmat, here. The play was written and directed by Tarun Sharma, Founder & President Nat Manch. In this Function, Sham Lal Choudhary Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control was the Chief Guest & Sayeed Farooq Ahmed Andrabi  Minister of State for PHE, I&FC was the Guest of honour, who spoke on the significance of the day.
All J&K Schedule Caste Welfare Association celebrated Gandhi Jyanti at Dr. Ambedkar Community Hall, Janipur Jammu in an impressive gathering today. Mahatma Gandhi’s role in non-violence struggle for freedom of our country was highlighted by various speakers.

148th Birth Anniversary of the father of the nation was celebrated in Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Jakh (Samba) as International Day of non-violence. Floral tributes were paid to Mahatama Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji on the occasion by Principal Deepak Gupta, staff and students. Also pledge regarding Non-violence and a rally was taken out by the staff and students of the institution.

Students from classes VII and VIII were very enthusiastic to meet the elderly and thanked them for their contribution to society.
A special Drive for unemployed youth especially SC/ST candidates under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) of Kashmir was started on the occasion of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ at PMTC, KVIC, Pampore. Around 200 applications were received from various beneficiaries especially women folk on the special drive launched on the occasion of “Bapu’s Jayanti” . Besides, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Plantation drive and Painting Competition among school children was also held on the occasion.
