Various social organizations, trade unions celebrate I-Day with fervour

JAMMU, Aug 17: The 68th Independence was celebrated by various social and welfare committees, trade unions and traders organizations with great charm and enthusiasm throughout the Jammu region.
Shalamar Traders Association: On the occasion of Independence Day a grand function was organized at Shalamar Park here by the Association in which MLA Jammu East, Ashok Khajuria who was the chief guest unfurled the National Flag. During the function Prabjeet Singh, SDPO, North and SHO City K K Gupta were the guests of honour. Chairman of the Organization Jagmohan Gupta and other office bearers also attended the function.
Lakhdata Bazar Businessmen Welfare Association: On the occasion of 68th Independence Day an impressive function was organized by the Association at Lakhdata Bazar here in which president of the Association, Ramesh Suri hoisted the National Flag. Besides Mr Giri, SHO Pir Mitha, the function was also attended by people from all communities.
Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS): The Independence Day was celebrated with much enthusiasm and fan fare by TNWS. The Society organized a walk on the occasion and distributed T Shirts painted with Tricolor and `Walk for health’ among the walkers. The National Flag was hoisted by president of the Society Vikram Gaur.
Sarwal Chowk: The residents of Sarwal Chowk area celebrated the Independence Day with great pomp and show. During the function Medical Superintendent Sarwal Hospital, Dr ADS Manhas hoisted the Tricolor. Sweets were also distributed among the children.
Indian National People Welfare Societies (INPWS): An impressive function was organized by the organization to celebrate the Independence Day at Ram Lila Ground Bahu Fort near here. A large number of people attended the function in which Karam Chand president of the Society hoisted the National Flag.
Jammu Development Council (JDC): On the occasion of Independence Day a grand function was organized by JDC at Chowk Chabutra here in which Krishan Lal Abrol president of the Association hoisted the National Flag along with general secretary of the organization, S Balwinder Singh. A large number of people including members of the Council attended the function.
POJK DPs Front J&K : On the occasion of Independence Day a function was organized by POJK DPs Front at Press Club here in which Capt (retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib unfurled the National Flag. A large number of DPs participated in the function and paid tributes to freedom fighters.
J&K Batwal Welfare Association: The Association celebrated the Independence Day with great pomp and show at Sainik Colony near here in which a large number of people participated. G R Kaith, hoisted the National Flag on the occasion. The gathering recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters on the occasion.
Rotary Club Jammu: A grand function was organized at Rotary Bhawan Gandhi Nagar here to celebrate the Independence Day. Harish Vinay Kapoor, president of the Club along with Ashok Gupta its secretary hoisted the Tri Colour in presence of prominent people and members of the Club. On the occasion the members of the Club distributed grocery and Karyana goods at the Destitute Home Bakshi Nagar.
Public Health Engineering Employees Welfare Association (PHEEWA): Jammu province PHEEWA also celebrated the Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fevour. On the occasion a grand function was organized at PHE Division Complex B C Road here in which Chief Engineer Sushil Kumar Aima hoisted the National Flag. Provincial president of the Association Balwinder Singh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the significance of the day.
Vikasnagar Welfare Association Sector 4, Janipur: On the occasion of Independence Day an impressive function was organized by the Association at Janipur in which Ajit Kumar Sahu District Development Commissioner Jammu was the chief guest who unfurled the National Tricolour.
Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS): The Independence Day was celebrated by TNWS with great pomp and show at Main Chowk, Mini Market near here yesterday. The National Flag was hoisted by B D Gupta chairman of the Society in presence of a large number of people of the area including Raghubir Singh president of the Society and its other office bearers.
PHE Workers Welfare Association (PHEWWA) organized a grand function here at Dhounthly to celebrate the Independence Day in which a large number of employees participated. Chief Engineer PHE Sushil Kumar Aima was the chief guest on the occasion who unfurled the National Flag. In his address Aima stressed on maintaining brotherhood. The provincial general secretary Subash Verma also addressed the function.
The PHE Department Drivers, Cleaners Union: A colorful programme was organized by the PHE Department Divers and cleaners to celebrate the Independence Day at PHE Complex B C road here in which Chief Engineer of the Department Sushil Aima was the chief guest who unfurled the National Flag. Kartar Chand Dubey, Deputy Chairman of the Union and its president Mohan Singh Charak also spoke on the occasion.
Arya Pratindhi Sabha (APS) also celebrated the 68th Independence Day with great pomp and show at Arya Samaj Trikuta Nagar. A large number of activists of the Arya Samaj and prominent citizens attended the function who saluted the National Flag and paid rich tributes freedom fighters. The National Flag on the occasion was hoisted by Bharat Bhusshan Arya president Arya Pritindhi Sabha.
Another function was held at Arya Samaj Rehari where Dr Devvrat Swami, president Arya Veer Dal Delhi hoisted the National Flag. The function was attended by Bharat Bushan Arya, Satay Vir Gupta, Kuldeep Gupta, Jagdish Gupta and other members of Arya Samaj.
Bharat Bushan Arya also hoisted the National Tri Colour at a function organized by Arya Samaj Gandhi Nagar here while flag hoisting was performed on the occasion of Independence Day by Arun Gupta president Arya Samaj Dayanand Marg at a function held at Dayanand Marg.
Jammu Kashmir Peoples Front (JKPF): A grand function was organized by JKPF at Dogra Nagar Muthi yesterday to celebrate the 68th Independence Day. A large number of people attended the function in which president of the Front Satish Poonchi hoisted the National Flag. On the occasion rich tributes were paid to freedom fighters.
Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) district Udhampur organized a grand function at PHE Station Barrian Udhampur to celebrate the Independence Day yesterday. A large number of employees and workers attended the function, which was chaired by Som Nath senior leader INTUC. Someshwar Mengi Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic Circle, Udhampur hoisted the Tri Colour on the occasion. The School children sang National Anthem during the function. Executive Engineer PHE Civil Udhampur, Nisar Hussian Khan and Executive Engineer, PHE Mechanical Division, Udhampur Babu Ram Sharma were also present on the occasion. Sweets were distributed among participants by the organizers of the function. Several senior Congress leaders were also present on the occasion.
The 68th Independence Day was also celebrated with great pomp and show by J&K Christian Minority Welfare Association at Residency road here. Amrit Malhotra, chairman J&K Legislative Council was the chief guest on the occasion who unfurled the National Flag. Nasir Masih, chairman of the Association also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of the Day.
On the occasion of Independence Day, a National Flag hoisting ceremony was organized by Indira Housing Colony Welfare Committee, Timber Road, Janipur. The Tricolour was unfurled by the president JD Singh along with the executive members and office bearers of the committee in presence of large number of people.
On the eve of 68th Independence Day, Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Chanakya Chowk, Parade hoisted the National flag in the premises of Sabha in presence of all the members of the Sabha. The National Flag was hoisted by president of the Sabha Ved Parkash Sharma.
Tawi Welfare Society celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm at village Sure Chack in Apna Van. The National Flag was hoisted by senior members of the society.
On the eve of 68th Independence Day, National Flag was unfurled in the office of Chambers of Traders Federation.  The National Flag was hoisted by Yashpaul Gupta, President of the Federation in presence of Dinesh Mahajan, Neeraj Anand, Vinod Sachdeva, Dinesh Gupta, Ajay Mahajan, Yash Paul Gupta, Kewal Gupta, Vinod Gupta, Subash Verma, Nek Ram Sharma, SS Arora, Ayoudhya Gupta, Om Parkash Mahajan, Balvinder Singh, etc.
Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) organized a function to celebrate Independence Day, wherein members of the Sabha participated. Dr Neel Kanth Dogra, senior vice president, DSS hoisted the National Flag. The children of Jyoti Public School, Dogra Hall presented the National Anthem.
Udhampur Development Council (UDC) celebrated 68th Independence Day with slum dwellers. Parvesh Parihar and Anil Paba of UDC hoisted the National Flag. Children were impressed upon to speak truth and adopt non violence besides being hard workers.
68th Independence Day was celebrated at Balgran, Channi Himmat. Rakesh Gupta, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industries hoisted the National Flag in presence of CCI members, donors and children of Balgran. Children presented cultural programme. Two inmates of Balgran Sourav Sharma, who completed his Engineering Degree and Neelam Sharma, who completed B Com were honoured on the occasion. The office bearers of Balgran including President SN Sharma were also present.
On the occasion of 68th Independence Day, National Flag hoisting ceremony was organized by Canal Road Walkers Welfare Association at Canal Road Walkers Track. The National Flag was hoisted by Om Parkash Sharma and Des Raj Dogra in presence of Prof MS Nargal, president, Advocate Vijay Sharma, general secretary and people.
J&K Human Rights Watch, Janipur Colony celebrated Independence Day. The National Flag was hoisted by State Chairman BL Kapoor in presence of local populace.
Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Jammu celebrated Independence Day with inmates of Home for Mentally Retarded Children, Channi Rama, under the guidance of Suresh Sharma, Executive Secretary, DRCS. AK Sahu, Chairman, DRCS, DC Jammu was the chief guest, while as A K Raina, retd Director School Education was the guest of honour. Mentally retarded children presented various cultural items and participated in games under the supervision of Rajinder Sharma, Administrator.
Sh Badri Nath Shiv Mandir Management Committee, Prem Nagar, New Plot celebrated Independence Day. The National Flag was hoisted by Ramesh Arora, senior BJP leader in presence of Chairman of the Committee Kapil Dev, Purshotam Abrol and other members of the committee.
On the occasion of 68th Independence Day, All Jammu And Kashmir Mahasha Sadar Sabha hoisted the National Flag in its office at Dogra Hall. President of the Sabha Bodh Raj Rao along with Maheshwar Dardi, senior Vice Chairman of Shree Guru Nabha Dass Ji Maharaj Trust hoisted the National Flag in presence of local populace.
Jammu Co-operative Wholesale Limited, Super Bazaar, Jammu celebrated Independence Day with patriotism at City Chowk. General Manager Ram Kesh Sharma unfurled the National Flag in presence of all the employees of the institution.
J&K Human Rights Watch, Mendhar celebrated Independence Day. Provincial president Mohammad Rafiq hoisted the National Flag in presence of large number of people.
A function was held to celebrate the 68th Independence Day in Durga Nagar, wherein large number of men, women and children were present. BJP unit President ML Pandita unfurled the National Flag in presence of RL Raina, DN Kissu, BL Koul, Dr Bal Ji and PL Swedeshi.
Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) organized a function to celebrate 68th Independence Day. VK Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting unfurled the National Flag along with Vijay Malla, Director and Producer, IPTA, Dr Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director, Health Department, ML Dogra, Chairman, BLSKS, RP Amla, Former Field Publicity Assistant of Directorate of Field Publicity and other prominent persons. A cultural programme was presented by the artists of BLSKS, Unison Cultural Troupe, Mukta Theatre Art, Ek Sath Rang Mandal, Nagni Cultural Troupe and Sangam True Art Group.
Vice president of Peoples Democratic Party, Gandhi Nagar zone and Chairman, Anjuman Ahal-e-Islam Association Dr Ramzan Hussain celebrated Independence Day at Nai Basti. Large number of people participated in the function. Dr Hussain appealed the people to maintain peace and prosperity in the society.
Jammu Kashmir Yuva Kalyan Samiti, Panjtirthi Welfare Association celebrated 68th Independence Day under the presidentship of Sanjay Kumar Rakwal. While Speaking, Rakwal demanded Government job for one member of each family and implementation of employment scheme.
Jammu Welfare Organization celebrated Independence Day at Roop Nagar Enclave, Durga Nagar, Khatri Mohallah and Hanjura Lane. President of the organization Kasturi Lal Gupta hoisted the National Flag and asked the people to maintain unity and integrity.
Prominent Citizen Forum, Bishnah organized programmes at different places to celebrated 68th Independence Day, where in people of Bishnah participated. Senior Advocate MK Bhardwaj was the chief guest who hoisted the National Flag and addressed the gatherings. The Forum organised functions in association with Kanchan Arts Society. An impressive ‘Kavi Sammelan’ was also held wherein glowing tributes were paid to freedom fighters.
Red Devil’s Motorcycle Club J&K and Ladakh organised a Freedom Day Ride from Gandhi Nagar to Nagrota and back to Gandhi Nagar. The aim of the ride was to celebrate the Independence Day. President and Co-Founder of the Club Iqbal Wani while speaking threw light on the life of martyrs. Co-Founder Yuvraj Singh apprised all biker members about the safety steps to be taken while driving. Joint Secretary Arjun Pandoh and Shahid Rasool distributed Tricolour and broaches. Arvind Kotwal, Sachin Verma, Nikhil Gupta, Sumveg Bakshi and Dr Gaurav were also present.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Nitish Mahajan, Joint Secretary, Speed Ball Association awarded the students, who brought laurels to the State by participating in the National Speed Ball Competitions in Sub-Junior categories at New Delhi. J&K Agriculture Employees Welfare Forum (JKAEWF): Director Agriculture, Dr S S Jamwal hoisted Tri Colour at a function jointly organized by JKAEWF, J&K Agriculture Employees Association and Non Gazetted Agriculture Graduates Association at Agriculture Complex Talab Tillo on the occasion of Independence Day. Dr Sushil Sahni, Director Law and Enforcement was the chief guest on the occasion. He highlighted the significance of Independence Day.
Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC): On the occasion of Independence Day a function was organized by JTC at Jagti Camp in which president of the organization Shadi Lal Pandita hoisted the Natinal Flag.
Kashmir Dramatic Club (KDC) : A function was organized a function at Udaywala Bohri yesterday in connection with celebration of Independence Day by KDC an NGO and social welfare society. P N Hakim unfurled the National Tricolour on the occasion. The patriotic songs were recited by the gathering on the occasion and rich tributes were paid to freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the national cause.
Mahatma Gandhi Intellectuals Society (MGIS): On the occasion of Independence Day yesterday a grand function was organized by Kuldeep Raj Gupta alias Bitta, president of the Society of the Society at Gandhi Chowk Satwari. Indira Bhalla was the chief guest on the occasion and she hoisted the National Flag.
