VC flags off BGSBU team for NZ Football C’ship

RAJOURI, Oct 8: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University sent its 16-member football team to participate in Indian North Zone Football Championship to commence from October 10, 2013 at Rohtak in Haryana.
The team was flagged off by Vice Chancellor, Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal in presence of Dean of Students, Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof AK Koul, Deputy Registrar Suneet Gupta, Deputy Director Physical Education and Sports, Mohammad Din, University Engineer, B R Chadgal and Security Officer, Mir Hussain.
The team comprising of 16 members is led by Tafasal Irshad and is escorted by RC Bhatt as coach and manager.
It is pertinent to mention here that Indian North Zone Football Championship is an important tournament being organized by Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak in which teams from all University’s of Northern India are participating.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hamal expressed pleasure over the selection of team for participating in the Indian North Zone Football Championship and hoped that the team will perform well in the tournament as sufficient training and practice has been given to them in the University.
On the occasion, Dean of Students Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary appraised Vice Chancellor about various activities being held in the University.
He said that University teams are getting exposure by visiting outside the State and participating in National level tournaments.
“Such activities will be held in future also,” he added.
