VC JU interacts with students of Jamia Millia

JAMMU, Nov 12: The students of Jamia Millia Islamia met Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, here today.
Interacting with the students, Prof Ishar said that the participation of the students in the cycle rally, to spread awareness regarding safety of women and to provide them a safe environment in the country, is highly encouraging.
He said that in the backdrop of the recent cases of violence against women, there is a need for sensitization and creating awareness about crimes against women.
Prof Ishar further said that the society can be empowered only if all members of the society, including women, are actually empowered.
With the theme “Building India Safe for Women”, a team of 37 people comprising 25 students, 10 support staff and 2 medical staff started from Kashmir and will pass through Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory of Chandigarh.
The cycle rally started on November 9 from Kashmir and reached Jammu on Monday and from Jammu the rally shall be flagged off on November 13 by Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu.
Among others present on the occasion were Prof Jasbir Singh, chairman NSS and Dr Vishav Raksha, Co-ordinator NSS.
This cycle rally is organized by NCC and NSS units of Jamia Millia Islamia in partnership with ONGC Videsh Ltd, Steel Authority India Ltd., DD News and Take-1 Channel.
