JAMMU, Sept 13: Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor of the Jammu University, today held review meeting with the various functionaries of the University for discussing initiatives to provide relief and rehabilitation to the flood victims.
Prof Pankaj Srivastav, Dean Students Welfare, informed the Vice-Chancellor that the teachers of Jammu University will start flood relief donation campaign on the University Campus. Dean Students Welfare, Chairperson, NSS and Chairperson, Campus Cultural Council along with members of the Campus Cultural Council and NSS Programme Officers are visiting various departments to collect cash donation from individual teachers.
The University has planned to distribute needed items in identified flood affected areas of Jammu province by next week. A one day’s Flood Relief Camp is being planned where items needed by the flood victims will be distributed by the University teachers, employees and students. Medical checkup and counseling to the victims are also being planned.
Prof Ishar said that the University is committed to pool in various resources at hand and to humbly contribute for the well being of its fellow citizens in its hour of crisis. The Vice-Chancellor also lauded the noble initiatives undertaken by various student organizations, teachers, officers, staff of the University in the individual capacity and collectively for extending helping hand in the flood relief.
