VC XI defeats Principal XI in Friendly Cricket Match

JAMMU, Jan 15: A friendly cricket match between Principal XI and VC XI was held today at the JKCA Ground, Jammu, organized by Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, Jammu, and Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma, Incharge Physical Director of the college. The event aimed to promote sportsmanship and healthy competition among the teaching and non-teaching staff of Cluster University, Schools, and Constituent Colleges.
Prof. K.S. Chandrasekar, Vice Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu, was the chief guest who conducted the toss, while Brigadier Anil Gupta, Member of Administration of the J&K Cricket Association, graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The event was also attended by the Registrar of Cluster University, Deans of various faculties, and Vivek Khajuria, an official from JKCA.
Principal XI, captained by Dr. Rahul Kait, won the toss and chose to bat first. The team posted 144 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Dr. Lokinder Singh (34 runs), Prof. Rajesh Bhardwaj (33 runs), and Dr. Rohit Bhardwaj (20 runs) were the top scorers. VC XI’s bowlers, Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma and Prof. Arun Kumar, excelled with 3 wickets each.
In response, VC XI, led by Prof. Arun Kumar, chased down the target in just 17.3 overs, scoring 145 runs. Paramjeet Singh and Prof. Rajiv Kumar each contributed with half-centuries, scoring 51 runs. Principal XI’s bowler, Abhinandan, claimed 2 wickets. Dr. Devinder Kumar Sharma was named Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where the chief guest praised the efforts of GGM Science College in organizing such an engaging event.
