JAMMU, May 20: In an impressive and colourful function, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports Ved Parkash declared open the Divisional Level Inter-District Tournament in the disciplines of badminton, carom, chess and table tennis at Indoor Complex in MA Stadium, here today.
168 Under-14 and Under-17 players drawn from all ten districts of the division are participating in the tournament.
Meanwhile, in badminton Under-14 boys, Jammu defeated Poonch to make it to the finals, while in other matches, Udhampur defeated Kathua by (2-1) and Jammu drubbed Kishtwar by (2-0).
In badminton Under-17 boys, Jammu trounced Rajouri, Poonch got better of Kishtwar, Kathua defeated Ramban and Udhampur prevailed over Doda.
In table tennis Under-14 boys, Jammu beat Poonch by (3-0) to claim the title trophy, while in table tennis Under-17 boys, Poonch outplayed Kishtwar, while Udhampur outclassed Kathua.
Jammu drubbed Kishtwar (3-0) in table tennis Under-17 girls, while in carrom Under-14 boys, Rohit of Jammu defeated Siddhant of Kathua.
In carrom Under-17 boys, Surinder of Kathua prevailed over Vijay Sharma of Doda, while Jatin Suri of Jammu toppled Surinder of Kathua.
Navdeep of Jammu defeated Aniket of Kathua, while Laksh Chopra of Jammu trounced Abhinav of Kathua in chess Under-14 boys.
In chess Under-17 boys, Aditya of Jammu got better of Kewal of Kathua, Villas Kotwal of Jammu defeated Harithik of Kathua, Harsimran of Jammu toppled Vishal of Kathua and Shivinder of Jammu prevailed over Akash of Kathua.
In chess Under-14 girls, Riya Sharma of Kathua defeated Sonali of Jammu and Amisha of Jammu defeated Shivangi of Kathua, while in chess Under-17 girls, Akriti of Jammu trounced Suraksha of Kathua.
