Veeri expresses concern over slow progress on new Legislative Complex

JAMMU, Nov 15: Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri reviewed the progress on the construction of new Legislative Complex, here today.
The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner (works) Bimal Tikoo, Secretary law Abdul Majeed Bhat, Secretary Assembly M P Singh, Special Secretary Planning Pradeep Kumar, GM & DGM JKPCC and Joint Director R&B.
While reviewing the pace of the works, the meeting was informed about the works completed and funds being utilized till now.
Taking strong note of slow progress on the works, the Minister set October 2018 as completion date of this prestigious project and said that the complex should be ready in given time frame for its inauguration. He directed the officers of JKPCC, the executing agency to mobilize its men machinery to expedite the works and ensure its early completion.
The Minister said that the required funds would be released soon for smooth execution of all related works and also asked to submit the Utilization Certificates for the works completed till date. He said that there is no dearth of funds for this project but the works needs to be completed at the earliest even if there is a need for carrying out the works in double shift.
He asked the concerned officers to regularly monitor the pace of works and if found any issue hampering the progress, should be brought into the notice of concerned departments for redressal.
The Legislative Complex is being built over an area of 23465 square meters with two basements, 2 floors for Legislative Assembly and 2 floors for Legislative Council. The complex will also house separate spacious galleries for visitors, officers and Press.
