Vegetable vendors fined Rs 23,000 for over charging

JAMMU, May 11: The joint team of CAPD and LMD today fined about two dozens of vegetable vendors for over charging for tomatoes and other green stuff from the customers.
The department team on the directions of Director CAPD, Jammu G S Chib, after receiving several public complaints, started extensive market checking at Jewel Chowk, B C Road, Rehari, Janipur, Subash Nagar   and Raoopnagar   and booked over two dozen of vegetable vendors for overcharging.
The team led by Dy Director CAPD (Supplies), Atamdev Singh and assisted by ADs Nazir Ahmed and Mohd Iqbal also warned the vendors and other commercial  establishments not to violate the provisions under Essential Commodities Act and adhere to the norms and rates notified from time to time. They recovered Rs 23,000 fine from the defaulters.
