JAMMU, Feb 8: In continuation to operation Chetak, a special drive against vehicle theft launched by Satwari Police today apprehended one vehicle lifter and recovered three stolen motor cycles from him.
Police said that on February 2, one Doulat Singh, S/o Balwinder Singh R/o Bhour Camp W. No.1, Jammu lodged a written complaint at PP Gadigarh that some unknown persons have stolen his motorcycle bearing registration no. JK02BW-1571 from Bhour Camp W. No. 1.
On the basis of the complaint police registered a case FIR No. 26/2018 under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Satwari and investigation started by it. During the course of investigation several suspects were rounded up and efforts were continued to recover the stolen motorcycle. Today with the help of CCTV footage one suspect namely Gaganpreet Singh alias Gagan S/o Gurdev Singh R/o Upper Gadigarh was apprehended and during questioning he admitted his involvement in the theft case. On his disclosure the stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession.
During the interrogation he revealed his involvement in two other vehicle lifting cases and the two more stolen motorcycles bearing registration no. JK02AB-7977, and no. JK02BH-2230 have also been recovered from his possession.
The arrest and recovery was made by incharge PP Gadigarh, SI Gurpal Singh under the guidance of SHO P/S Satwari, Inspector Manjeet Singh, under the supervision of SDPO City South, Rafiq Manhas and SP City South, Sandeep Choudhary, IPS.
