UDHAMPUR, Aug 30: The Police foiled a bovine smuggling bid under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and rescued 16 bovines with the seizure of a load carrier today.
Official sources said that a police team led by Inspector Chaman Gorka, SHO Udhampur under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan DySP Hqrs Udhampur, during checking at naka at Jakhani on National Highway signalled to stop suspicious vehicle (dumper) bearing registration number JK08L-7705 for checking.
Instead of stopping the vehicle driver accelerated the vehicle and then fled the spot after leaving behind the vehicle on road at some distance.
On physical checking of the said vehicle, police team found 16 bovines loaded in the said vehicle in a very cruel manner. The police team immediately seized the vehicle and rescued all the 16 bovines.
In this connection an FIR under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is in progress. The overall drive was conducted under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Dr Vinod Kumar.
