JAMMU, Feb 12: Veteran athletes from Jammu and Kashmir won a record 22 medals across different age groups of the 41st National Masters Athletics Championship at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula in Haryana.
The medal tally included eight gold, nine silver and five bronze. Ramraj (Plus 45) was most successful athlete from J&K, who won three gold medals in 1500 meters, 5000 meters and 10,000 meters run.
Mangat Singh (Plus 35) also did a fine job securing three medals for J&K including silver in 1500 meters, gold in 5000 meters and gold in 10,000 meters run.
Tejinder Singh, who is SSP with J&K Police and contested in the Plus 35 age group, clinched a silver in the 100 meters race and bronze in the 200 meters run.
Senior most athlete in the team, Devi Dayal (Plus 85) won three medals including gold in Discuss Throw, silver in Shot Put and bronze in Hammer Throw.
Rampaul Kapoor (Plus 60) bagged a gold in 800 meters and silver in 1500 meters races while Jagdev Singh (Plus 50) won silver in 5000 meters run. Rayaz Ahmed (Plus 40) won gold in 1500 meters and silver in 10,000 meters run.
Rakesh Kumar (Plus 50) won silver in 400 meters Hurdles while Amrish Sharma (Plus 40) bagged bronze in 100 meters and silver in 200 meters race.
Other medal winners: Anissa Nabi (Plus 35), 800 meters, silver. Pushpa Kumari (Plus 65), 100 meters bronze. Tahir Ahmed (Plus 35), 400 meters, bronze.
