JAMMU, Sept 1: Veteran Cricket Administrator and Senior most Working Committee Member, Chaman Lal Chrungoo has passed away and his last rites were performed at Bantalab crematorium, here today.
The cremation of ace Cricket Administrator and father of Kashmiri Pandit leader, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, was attended by hundreds of people from all walks of life including the members from cricket fraternity.
An eminent educationist and authoritative orator, late Mr Chrungoo had the honour of working in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) in different capacities as an Administrator including Vice-Chairman (Kashmir Wing).
After playing pivotal role in the development of cricket in the Valley up to 1990, late Chrungoo was instrumental in promoting migrant cricketers through a reputed Whites Cricket Club (WCC) in Jammu also since early 90’s.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ashiq Hussain Bukhari in a message has condoled the sad demise of Mr Chrungoo and termed it great loss to cricket community.
Meanwhile, the Working Committee Members of JKCA held a meeting today to condole the sad demise of Chrungoo.
The meeting was chaired by Mehboob Iqbal, former Chairman JKCA and was attended by a galaxy of WC Members including former Vice Chairman, Sham Swaroop Kalsotra. The members prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. Iqbal termed Mr Chrungoo as an ace Cricket Administrator.
Ace Sports Administrator Ranjeet Kalra, former Member BCCI, Ankush Abrol and Chairman Media Committee JKCA Rajesh Dhar also condoled the sad demise of Chrungoo.
