VHP terms Kashmir communal issue, JPVM for making Jammu independent tourism destination

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Sept 6: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is of strong opinion that the origin of present crisis in Kashmir lie in partition of India in 1947 and formation of Pakistan after the Hindus who were forced to flee from Muzafarabad now in PoK were not allowed to settle in Kashmir valley and forced to take refuge in Jammu.
Talking to reporters here, today, VHP senior leader and its patron, Dr Rama Kant Dubey said it was a deliberate attempt on the part of rulers at that time who did not allow these Hindu migrants to settle in Kashmir though, the Muzaffarabad was the part of valley and these refugees had every right to settle there.
He said this nefarious plan achieved its prime motive in 1989, when these anti national Islamic terrorist organisations forced Kashmiri Hindus to leave the Kashmir valley enmass. He said this was conveyed to the visiting All Party Delegation (APD) led by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh by VHP team during their visit to Jammu yesterday.
He said, besides it some such provisions were made in the Indian Constitution relating to J&K which developed a sense of separation and independence among the Kashmiri people and this conspiracy was made owing to the weakness of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru for Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah who had nurtured a desire to become a monarch of the State. However this plan was leaked in 1953, when Sheikh Abdullah was put behind the bars and the first militant separatist organisation was formed in 1953 in the name of “Alfatah”.
Dr Dubey said VHP is for total integration of J&K with India and is opposed to any demand in any part of country that threatens national unity and integrity.
Dr Dubey said VHP salutes the spirit of Jammu people who always stood by national cause despite all provocations and gave refuge to the people who migrated from Pakistan and PoK in 1947, 1965 and 1971 wars and later from Kashmir in 1989-90 as well as the Hindu migrants from hilly reaches of Jammu who were forced to leave their homes and hearths in late nineties when militancy was on peak.
Rejecting that Kashmir is a political issue the VHP said it is totally a communal issue and be dealt seriously under law. He said attempts are being made every year to disturb the holy Amarnath yatra, and this year under a big conspiracy the anti nationals tried to disturb Abdhinav Gupt yatra, Buda Amarnath yatra etc by harassing and targeting pilgrims and torching the langers.
He said the solution of problem lies in abrogation of Article 370 and other such provisions of law in Indian Constitution that give special status to J&K State.
Dr Dubey said VHP made it clear to the delegation that GoI should not bow before a small section of Sunny Muslims in Kashmir who with the support of Pakistan have taken the people of entire State to ransom as majority of the people of J&K including Shia Muslims, Gujjars and Bakerwals, Paharis, Dogras of Jammu, Christians, Sikhs, Kashmiri Pandits and Ladakhis are nationalists by core and opposed to any so called freedom or communal movement.
Hitting out at (APD) who visited J&K State on September 4 and 5 to seek opinion from the people of the State to find a solution to present crisis in Valley, Shri Ram Sena president, Rajiv Mahajan today alleged that the delegation failed to meet the civil society in Jammu.
“APD does not carry anything to address the years of discrimination against the Jammu region and has not made any mention about our concerns over the neglect of the region in all spheres”, said Mr Mahajan.
He said APD ignored Jammu Province Peoples Forum (JPPF), a conglomerate of 50 organisations fighting for the protection of rights of Jammu people. Mahajan alleged that APD visited separatists who provoke the youth to stone pelting to free Kashmir from India but ignored the nationalist forces in Jammu.
However, the deputation of All India Akhil Bharatiya Gujjar Maha Sabha which met the APD here yesterday under the leadership of its State president Choudhary Sardar Khan Buhmale and general secretary Anam Choudhary informed the visiting delegation led by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh that 30 lakh population of Gujjars in the State are secular and nationalist people. The Sabha representatives also told the APD that Gujjars have actively supported the armed forces and security forces and brave soldiers of this community have  sacrificed their lives for the national unity and integrity and keeping the secular values of country alive. There are many Gujjars who have received gallantry awards and President’s medals. The deputation demanded political reservations to Gujjars and restoration of reservation in promotions in Government services.
The deputation of Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal (JPVM) led by its chairman Inderjeet Khajuria which also met the APD yesterday aid that the Jammu tourism related traders have suffered a loss of Rs five crore per day after the unrest in Valley since July 8 as the bookings made for tourists and pilgrims were cancelled.
Mentioning about the discrimination in tourism packages, Khajuria said that all successive governments at Centre i.e UPA and NDA have given tourism package to Kashmir only while ignoring Jammu tourism at the peril of Jammu tourist traders.  Besides the State Government in past has also given tourism package to Kashmir Valley while ignoring Jammu.
Maintaining that Jammu has immense potential of tourism, Khajuria demanded that Jammu be made an independent tourism destination.
Emphasising the need of a positive solution after APD visit, National Conference today said that State Government has failed to prepare a required ground before the visit.
In a statement issued here today Youth NC provincial president Ajaz Ahmad Jan said that visit of APD was an important one with regard to present situation as efforts are needed to end the tension and to restore normalcy.
He said the required ground was not prepared before the visit due to which neither many important sections including Hurriyat denied to talk while same situation was seen in Jammu.
He said on one hand Mehbooba Mufti as Chief Minister is caging Hurriyat leaders and on the other hand, she calls them for talk and this dual policy is the main reason that APD visit failed to produce any instant result.
Public Opinion Forum (POF) has also expressed its concern over neglect of Jammu people by the APD which paid a brief visit to the Winter Capital of the State yesterday.
The Forum in a meeting held here under the chairmanship of president, Parveen Sharma seriously viewed the neglect of Jammu based organizations by the administration while allotting time to meet and present their point of view to the members of the delegation.
It said POF being an organisation of intellectuals, educationists, retired officers from armed and civil services was denied the opportunity to interact with the visiting APD in view of its brief visit to Jammu.
The delegation of Displaced Persons and Refugees which called on All Party Delegation (APD) here at Govt Guest House yesterday appraised them about their long pending demands.
Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Manjit Singh while interacted with the APD expressed serious concern over the ignorance of Government regarding settlement of refugees /displaced persons who were uprooted in 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured refugees and DPs about their settlement but nothing happened on ground. It seems the GoI has forgotten its own promises made with the war affected people awaiting compensation and permanent settlement.
“We are the nationalist people. We cannot raise voice against the country, this is why we were ignored. The refugees/DPs of 1971 and 1965 were uprooted during hostility between India and Pakistan and still these people have been ignored,” apprised Manjit Singh to the APD.
He warned that that if their demands are not considered, the refugees/DPs would be forced to come on roads to fight for their long standing demands.
He appealed the APD to grant reservation in jobs, higher education and a package less than Rs 30 lakh per family would not be acceptable to them.
