JAMMU, Nov 28: 9th Inter-School Taekwondo Champio-nship, being organized by Rakwal Taekwondo Club got underway at Sprawling Buds School Chinore, Bantalab, here.
The Championship is being held under the aegis of District Jammu Taekwondo Association, affiliated to Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association, Taekwondo Federation of India, recognized by Jammu and Kashmir Olympics Association.
400 players/officials are participating in this two days long championship and players from entire Jammu district showcased their skills.
The Championship was inaugurated by the chief guest, Ashok Kumar, senior vice-president, School Games Federation of India (SGFI), while Sukhdev Raj, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu was the guest of honour. D S Bisht, Deputy Commandant CRPF was the special guest.
While speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar congratulated all the participants and the organizers said that sports serves for delight, for ornament and for agility.
Rahul Sharma, Director Sprawling Buds School is the Chairman of the Championship as also sponsor.
Around 25 Schools are participating in this mega event.
Gurinder Rakwal is organizing secretary of the Championship.
The technical team is being headed by Atul Pangotra (NIS) International Referee with his team of officials including Sanjay Kumar, Mukta Gupta, Arvind Satti, Narinder Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Balvinder SIngh Bhau, and Sunil SIngh.
Results: Under-13 kg: Jeevan Jyot Singh (Ankur Playway)-1st; Ujjwal Singh (Ankur Playway)-2nd.
Under-14 kg: Saksham Sharma (BSF)-1st; Ayaan Choudhary (Kids Club)-2nd, Swastik (CRPF)-3rd and Shahnoor Ahmed (Kidzee)-3rd.
Under-17 kg: Neev Sangra (Rich Harwest)-1st; Anmol (Rich Harwest)-2nd; Rayaan Manzoor (Kidzee)-3rd; Vikrant Singh (Playway)-3rd.
