JAMMU, Oct 16: In order to commemorate India’s historic 900th One Day International Match at Dharamshala against New Zealand, Vickrant Mahajan, the founder of Superpositivity Movement blazed his way into cricketing history by creating a World Record of hitting 1203 deliveries in one hour at the MIER Cricket Academy in Model Academy School, here today.
Vickrant surpassed the previous Guinness World Record of 800 deliveries played in one hour by a batsman. Statistically, it means Vickrant played over 200 overs, or more than two days of test cricket, in one hour.
The endeavour was performed with ICC regulation leather balls and a lineup of 20 bowlers comprising national and regional level bowlers from Jammu who bowled at Vickrant nonstop for the entire 60 minute duration.
The bowlers were coached by Deepak Dogra, Coach at the MIER Cricket Academy who himself is a Ranji level Player of the State.
Ranjit Kalra, Member BCCI and Saleem-ur-Rehman, BCCI Level One Umpire were the chief adjudicators of this historic event.
Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director of MIER, Dr Vikram Handa, Director of Tiny Tots and Pramod Srivastava, Principal of Model Academy were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit Kalra said “Vickrant is putting Jammu on the world map for positive reasons and watching his extraordinary determination at the nets today reinforces my belief that when one becomes positive, they can do anything in life. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the young cricket players for participating in this historic feat on the momentous occasion of India’s 900th One day International thereby paying tributes to the game of cricket and the Nation in their own unique way”.
