Udhampur, Nov 10: The Indian Army team that won the gold medal in the prestigious Cambrian Patrol Exercise conducted in UK was felicitated by Lt Gen D S Hooda, GOC-in-C, Northern Command in a simple ceremony organized here today.
The three day event is conducted annually by 160 Wales Brigade of the British Army with an aim to evaluate the Armies of the world in operational capability, Infantry skills, mental robustness and physical sturdiness in the most adverse and challenging conditions.
It is an International military patrolling exercise in which the participating teams are tested for about 30 different facets that includes personal weapon training, obstacle crossing, first aid, communication skills, rivers stream crossing, rock climbing, recognition of vehicles and aircrafts, helicopter drills, and many more.
It is one of the toughest military patrolling exercise in which a total of 119 teams participated this year.
The Army Commander while felicitating the team of 8 Garhwal Rifles said that the exercise is the ‘Olympic of Patrolling’ and that the team has done the nation proud by winning the gold medal.
