Vidharbh lifts trophy, defeats VCAJK by 13 runs

1st Legend Masters Inter-state veteran T20 Cricket C’ship

JAMMU, Sept 3: Vidharbh Veterans defeated Veterans Cricketers Association Jammu and Kashmir (VCAJK) by 13 runs and lifted the trophy of the 1st Legend Masters Inter-state Veteran T20 Cricket Championship being held at M.A Stadium, here.
Abhishek Choudhary, captain of Vidharbh Veterans won the toss and elected to bat first but some spirited bowling performances by Veteran Cricket Association J&K restricted Vidharbh veterans to 124 runs on the loss of nine wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Sanjay scored 21 and Vikram Batra, Prashant and Abhishek scored 20 runs each for their team VCAJK, Vicky Raina took 4 wickets, Surinder Kachroo and Faheem took 2 and 1 wicket each.
While chasing 125 runs to win, team VCAJK kept loosing wickets on regular intervals, and scored 110 by loss of nine wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 13 runs.
For Team VCAJK, Irfan Dar scored 24 and Sunil Bali scored 15 runs. For Vidharbh Veterans, Shridhar, Kranti and Manish shared 2 wickets whereas Vikram and Preshit took 1 wicket each. Vikram Batra was declared Man of the Match and Best Batsman, Abhishek Choudhary was declared Best Fielder and Vicky Raina of VCAJK was declared Best Bowler and Player of the Series.
Pankaj Sharma, Excise Commissioner J&K was the chief guest and Gourav Gupta, Secretary Jammu Club, Rajiv Sharma Member J&K Sports Council, Ashish Singh President Veteran Cricket Association J&K and Deepak Baba former Ranji Player of J&K were guest of honour during closing ceremony.
Pankaj Sharma, Excise Commissioner J&K appreciated Vidharbh Veterans for their victory and also appreciated the efforts of Veteran Cricket Association J&K in organizing such a wonderful tournament. Gourav Gupta said a new benchmark has been set in Veteran Cricket in J&K and credit goes to VCAJK for giving a platform to all veterans in India.
