Vidharbha thrashes J&K by 7 wkts

JAMMU, Sept 30: Vidharbha defeated Jammu and Kashmir by 7 wickets in their opening match of the Under-19 Boys Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Daly College ground, Indore today.
Earlier, put into bat, J&K bundled out for a modest total of 104 runs in 18.3 overs in an inclement weather-hit shortened match of 20 overs a side. Arya Suvansh Thakur played a magnificent innings of 45 runs off 39 deliveries, while Ranjot Singh was the only other batsman to cross double figure mark, scoring unbeaten 11 runs. Aakash Ayoub and Dhruv Singh Parmar contributed 8 runs each.
Jagjot was the pick of the bowlers for Vidharbha who took 3 wickets in his 4 overs by conceding 17 runs, while Manan Agrawal and Harshit Bhawane bagged 2 wickets each. Tejas Soni and Wadkar A also claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Vidharbha chased the target easily in 17.4 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Danish Malewar top scored with power-packed 39 runs off just 26 balls, while opener MD Faiz contributed unbeaten 30 runs off 44 balls and Jagjot chipped in with 11 runs off 15 balls. Malewar was aggressive among Vidharbha batsmen and targeted left-arm Chinaman Prabhjot Singh, who conceded 23 runs in the only over he bowled.
For J&K, left-arm spinner Ranjot Singh and speedster Dhruv Singh Parmar claimed 1 wicket each by conceding 17 and 21 runs in their 4 overs respectively.
Jammu and Kashmir will take on Pondicherry in the next outing at the same venue tomorrow.
