KATHUA, Dec 19: Trouncing their rivals convincingly, Vidya Jain Academy Delhi and Road Safety XI Kashmir entered into the next round of the 7th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone Inter Club T20 Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium, here today.
In the first match today, Vidya Jain Academy Delhi defeated Nikhil and Kohli XI Kathua in an exciting contest by one run.
Batting first, Vidya Jain Academy scored 155 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Himat Yadav was the top scorer with 36 runs. For Nikhil & Kohli XI, S Bhatti took 3 wickets.
In reply, Nikhil & Kohli XI managed to score 154 runs in the stipulated overs, thus lost the match by one run. Naman top scored with 34 runs. For Vidya Jain Academy, Shivam and Dewakar took 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Shivam was declared as man of the match, who was presented a cash prize of Rs 2,100 and a trophy by Amit Gupta.
In another match played today, Road Safety XI Kashmir defeated Balaji Cricket Club Kurukshetra by a big margin of 52 runs. Road Safety XI Kashmir scored a decent total of 179 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Manzoor and Nazir contributed 54 and 44 runs respectively. For Balaji Cricket Club, Ankur took 2 wickets
In reply, Balaji Cricket Club bundled out for 121 runs, thus lostthe match by 52 runs. Pardeep scored 48 runs. Wasim Raza took 5 wickets, while Nazir claimed 3. Wasim Raza was declared man of the match for his 5-wicket haul and a contribution of 28 runs. He was presented a cash prize of Rs 2100 and a trophy by Manik Gupta.
The proceedings of the valedictory functions were conducted by Ravinder Slathia, President Police Martyrs Welfare Committee, Kathua.
