JAMMU, Oct 15: The RSS has called for vigorously pursuing the campaign against Pakistan-sponsored terrorists and separatists in Jammu and Kashmir even as it voiced concern over discrimination being meted out to Jammu and Ladakh regions despite the BJP being partner in the State Government. However, the RSS is reported to have favoured continuation of the PDP-BJP Government in the State.
The RSS discussed in detail the situation prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir, on frontiers with Pakistan and China with special reference to shelling on civilians on the Line of Control (LoC) and oft-repeated incursions by China on Line of Actual Control (LAC) at different places in its three-day long National Executive followed by day long ‘Prant Pracharak’ conference at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, which ended today.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat presided over both the meetings, which were attended by top RSS leaders all over the country. A five-member delegation from Jammu and Kashmir led by Romesh Puppa attended the meetings.
Insiders told the Excelsior that the RSS appreciated Narendra Modi Government’s approach towards terrorism in the country including Jammu and Kashmir, where number of top militants and their commanders have been eliminated in the recent past while several top separatists have been put behind the bars in crackdown launched by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has resulted into massive decline in terror activities and street protests.
However, they said, the RSS top leadership was of the view that there should be no let up in the drive against terrorism till it was finished completely in the Kashmir valley. It lauded the courage and bravery being displayed by armed forces of the country in finishing terrorism under tough circumstances.
The RSS conclave viewed with satisfaction that the NIA crackdown on separatists has succeeded in choking funding to terrorists and street protests, which have gone down after the NIA raids on several separatist leaders, businessmen and others, who were known sympathizers of militancy.
While reviewing working of PDP-BJP coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir, the RSS National Executive observed that it was new kind of experiment in the State, where the BJP has come to power for the first time and that too with a party, which has diametrically opposite ideology.
Favouring continuation of the Government, the RSS, however, voiced concern over the fact that Jammu and Ladakh regions continued to face discrimination in some aspects despite BJP being a coalition partner. It called for development of all three regions of Jammu and Kashmir equally to maintain regional balances in the sensitive border State.
The RSS lauded Narendra Modi Government for taking bold initiatives against terrorism and separatists and hoped that such measures would continue till desired results are achieves.
“The West Pakistani refugees remained deprived lot in Jammu and Kashmir. They haven’t been given citizenship rights even after staying in the State for more than 70 years,” the RSS observed and stressed for immediately addressing their all issues, both by the Centre and State Governments.
Insiders said situation along Pakistan and China frontiers was also debated extensively during three-day National Executive followed by day-long `Prant Parcharak’ meeting and there was unanimity that Pakistan is being taught a lesson by the Army. It voiced concern over plight of the border dwellers, who have to face brunt of Pakistan shelling and firing regularly and stressed that the Centre and State Governments should act to end their miseries.
On China front, the RSS leadership was of the view that India has to strengthen its positions by building infrastructure network to match strength of the hostile neighbour to prove its might like Doklam standoff in Sikkim. It said the Government has handled Doklam standoff effectively.
Troops of India and China were in an eyeball-to-eyeball position at Doklam for 73 days before both the countries agreed for simultaneous withdrawal from tri-junction involving India, China and Bhutan.
RSS leaders from Jammu and Kashmir gave detailed briefing at the National Executive on different aspects of situation in the State.
Insiders said among host of issues concerning security of the country, Rohingyas dominated discussions in the National Executive of the RSS.
The RSS was of the view that Rohingyas were illegal immigrants in the country and had to be deported back to Myanmar. It appreciated stand taken by the Centre before the Supreme Court on deportation of Rohingyas describing them as security threat to the country.
