Vijay Club drubs Young Rovers in inaugural tie

JAMMU, Oct 17: Vijay Club defeated Young Rovers by two goals to nil (2-0) in the opening match of the Senior Division Football League Tournament, organized by the Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), which got underway at GGM Science College Football Ground, here today.
It is pertinent to mention here that as per precedence 12 top clubs are participating in Senior Division League, while the remaining teams showcase their skill in the Junior Division Football League.
DIG Jammu, JP Singh inaugurated the tournament in a well attended function and the opening function among others was attended by Dr Nirmolak Singh, vice president JKFA Jammu wing, Surinder Singh Bunty, Resident Secretary JKFA Jammu wing and organizing secretary of the tournament, S Kuldeep Singh, Mohan Lal, Harbhans Lal and Yousuf Don.
Meanwhile, in the inaugural match, Vijay Club trounced Young Rovers by two goals to one (2-1) in a well contested match. Vishal Dogra scored the first goal for Vijay Club in the 31st minute of the match, while Dhananjay netted another goal in 49th minute. For Young Rovers, Sourav Jamwal was the goal scorer, who pelted it in 70th minute.
The match was officiated by Ramesh Chander, former International footballer, Harmanjeet Singh, Elija Sotra and Amandeep Singh.
Churchill Brothers will lock horns with Mussa Club, while Jammu Sports will take on Young Star tomorrow.
