SRINAGAR, July 3: Minister of State for Technical Education and Information, Vikar Rasool has asked the offices to speed up the pace of work on the under construction Polytechnics and ITIs complex in the State, so that the augmentation of infrastructure of technical education is ensured.
The Minister was speaking at a meeting of officers of Technical Education convened to review the functioning of the department here today.
Secretary, Technical Education, Parveez Malik, Director Technical Education S. J. P Singh, Secretary, Technical Education Board and other senior officers of Technical Education attended the meeting.
The Minister directed the officers to ensure that all the vacant posts should be referred to the recruiting agencies for their selection on fast track basis so that the smooth running of the department is ensured. He also emphasized for reconstitution of Board of Directors of J&K State Board of Technical Education
Vikar also directed for conducting of administrative inspection to all institutions more particularly to private polytechnics in order to ascertain item-wise details of funds utilized by the private polytechnics received from the Government of India under Central Scheme Community Development. He said that private Polytechnics have received around Rs. 1 crore during 2012-13 under the scheme, adding that we have to ensure that these funds are used judiciously and for the purpose these have been provided.
The Minister also stressed for accelerating developmental activities, construction works of various institutions and their status. He said that dates for inauguration of the institutes needs to be taken with concerned quarters. He also reviewed the status regarding introduction of 3rd stream in all 16 newly sanctioned polytechnic colleges in the State, maintaining that the quality technical education can arrest the menace of unemployment by providing the youth with the new vistas of starting their own entrepreneurial units.
