POONCH, Sept 21: Dead body of a villager was found hanging from a tree at Dara Sangla in Surankote area of Poonch district today.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Shakeel, son of Gulzar Ahmed Lohar, resident of Bair Fazlabad area in Surankote.
Locals said that his body was found hanging at a distance of nearly 2 kilometres from the house of his in-laws where he had gone on Tuesday.
“The news about the incident spread in the area this morning and subsequently villagers as well as a police party rushed to the spot. The police shifted the body to nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities”, they added.
Father of the deceased, Gulzar Ahmed, alleging murder, urged the authorities to conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter.
A senior Police officer said that body has been handed over to family after performing legal formalities while proceedings under 174 CrPC have been initiated.
