JAMMU, Mar 22: Quarterfinals position has been cleared as Vipan, Shashi Mohan, Sumit Gandotra, Pankaj Khajuria, Kuldeep Sharma, Vishal Gupta, Rahul Sharma and Sumit Sharma have made it to the last eight in the Staff Badminton Tournament for men, being organized by SMVDSB Katra at its Sports Complex, here.
Earlier, in the first match of the tournament played between Rahul and Devinder, Rahul won (2-0) by 21-8, 21-16, while in another match, Vipan Sharma defeated Yudvir Singh in straight sets by 21-06, 21-05 and in the third match played between Sumit and Vishal Gupta, former won the match by 21-06, 21-15.
In the fourth match of the day, Shashi Mohan defeated Mohinder by 21-4, 21-15, while Sunit Kumar outplayed Sanjeev by 21-10, 21-08 and Kuldeep Sharma got better of Ved Prakash 21-08, 21-12.
The Tournament is being organized as part of staff welfare measures of SMVDSB to encourage them towards healthy and fair participation in sports so that besides, improving efficiency in the work through the medium of sports a sense of team spirit is developed in them.
