JAMMU, Oct 23: Virbhadra Singh claimed gold in Under-17 boys’ 55 kg weight category on the concluding day of the 3-day Jammu District Judo Championship, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Judo Association, under the auspices of J&K State Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Shakeel Ahmed Beigh, DIG Jammu-Kathua Range was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Kuldeep Singh Jamwal was the guest of honour.
Rachpal Singh, president J&K Judo Association presented welcome address, while prominent among others present on the occasion were RC Thakur, Ravi Singh, Varinder Dogra, Dr Sandeep Singh, Rohit Sadotra, Raj Kumar, Rohit Gupta, Satpal Sharma, Shiv Kumar and Suraj Sharma.
Earlier, Shubam Singh bagged silver in Under-17 boys 55 kg, while the bronze medal in this weight category went to Lovish Rakhwal and Vikas Bachan.
In Under-17 boys 50 kg, Jeevan Singh and Munish Sharma claimed gold and silver respectively, while the bronze was bagged by Ankit Mahajan and Neeraj Kumar.
Ragun Bajwa bagged gold in Under-17 boys 60 kg category, while the silver was clinched by Akshay Choudhary and the bronze went to Vikrant and Mohd Ibrahim.
In Under-17 boys 66 kg, Aditya Mahajan clinched gold, Ankush Khajuria bagged silver, while Rohit Kumar and Singh claimed bronze medals and in 73 kg category, Abhishek Choudhary and Yogesh Sareen bagged gold and silver, while bronze medal went to Sachin Rana and Idris Ahmed.
Dheeraj Kumar and Amit Sharma clinched gold and silver in Under-17 boys open weight category, while Shubam Khajuria and Mohit Koul claimed bronze.
In Under-20 boys 60 kg category, Udham Singh bagged gold, Ankush Khajuria won silver and Remanic Ambardar and Akash Choudhary claimed bronze, while in Under-20 boys open weight category, Aruneesh Sareen and Shubankar Baru won gold and silver respectively and Munish Chatwal claimed bronze.
In senior boys open weight category, Danish Sharma and Arunesh bagged gold and silver, while Rajesh Sumbria claimed bronze.
In senior boys 55 kg, Ashutosh Khajuria and Salman Mohd claimed gold and silver respectively.
Meanwhile, in girls section, in Under-5 18 kg, Manya and Ridhima clinched gold and silver, while Tanya Thapa and Varidhi Gupta won bronze and in Under-8 girls, Kanishka and Manya bagged gold and silver, while the bronze went to Rakshita Jamwal and Bavya Jamwal.
In Under-8 girls 25 kg, Jigyasa and Niharika Sharma bagged gold and silver respectively, while Garima Jamwal and Sanwari Rajput claimed bronze and in Under-8 girls open category, Vishali Sharma and Suhani Kiran claimed gold and silver respectively.
Ruksar and Mehak bagged gold and silver in Under-10 boys 20 kg, while Minakshi and Prerna claimed bronze medals.
In Under-10 girls 25 kg, Palak Sharma won gold, Bhumika bagged silver and Kanisha and Amisha claimed bronze, while in 30 kg category, Tamana clinched gold, Ashwina Bhat bagged silver and the bronze went to Tanushka and Khushika.
In Under-10 girls 45 kg, Pearl Bhat and Jassica Singh claimed gold and silver respectively, while in open category, Vidhushi and Spakshi won gold and silver respectively, while Tejasvi and Arushi claimed bronze.
In Under-12 boys 40 kg, Sakshi and Vanshika bagged gold and silver respectively, while Riya and Smridhi claimed bronze.
Suman Kumari and Simran bagged gold and silver in Under-12 girls 40 kg and the bronze medal went to Shivani in this category, while in Undere-12 girls 50 kg, Vishali won gold, Mehak bagged silver and the bronze went to Nehal and Yeshtha.
