Vishal Club Jr wins U-12 Cricket Series

JAMMU, July 16: Vishal Cricket Club Jr trounced Christian Sports Club Jr. by 7 wickets in a close contest and lifted the Under-12 Three Matches Series Cricket Championship at Alexander Memorial School, here today.
The Series, in which the  Under -12 cricketers  of Christian Sports Club Junior and Vishal Cricket Club Junior participated was organized by Christian Sports Organization J&K, with an objective to create sports interest among children. The slogan of the tournament was “Be Healthy -Don’t Do Drugs”.
Fr. Kuriakose, Incharge Priest of Gandhi Nagar Church was the chief guest in the valedictory function, while Vinay Gupta, Chairman Vishal Cricket Club was the guest of honour. The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Christian Sports Club won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 46 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 10 overs. Araman top scored with 17runs including 1 four, while Kallis contributed 9 runs to the total. Ayush was the pick of the bowlers, who took 2 wickets, while Gibbs claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Vishal Cricket Club needed 4 runs in the last over of the match and clinched victory on the fourth ball in an exciting contest. Anslum was the main scorer  who made 11 runs while Captain Rohan & Julious contributed 9 runs each to the total. Bowlers of the Christian Sports Club had given 18 extras runs thus lost the match by 6 wickets, whereas Delving, Kallis and Gourav claimed 1 wicket each.  Aryaman was awarded man of the match in the last match. Kallis of Christian Sports Club was declared man of the series award.
In his address, Fr Kuriakose advised the parents of the young players to maintain friendly relation with the children and help them to excel in sports and study as well.
Vinay Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
The other dignitaries of the community present on the occasion included Rakesh Akram, Sonu Donald, Moon Stephan, Elija Sotra, Naveen Athwal, Amit , Rohit Robert, Samson, Sunny Gill and Ravi Richard,
Victor Sotra conducted the proceedings of the valedictory function.
David Mattoo and Sunny Gill were the organizing secretaries of the tournament and the tournament was organized under the overall supervision of Rajesh Gill, President of Christian Sports Organization J&K.
The matches were officiated by Nitu Khokher and Noni as umpires while Sanjay Bhatti acted as scorer.
