Vishal Club outplays Atman XI by 19 runs

JAMMU, Dec.12: Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Dilbag Singh inaugurated the Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup in an impressive,  well attended and colourful function at Parade Ground, here today.
The tournament in which 12 teams drawn from district Jammu are participating is being organized by Christian Sports Organization J&K in collaboration with J&K Police Department, with the objective to celebrate the Festival of Christmas with all masses through sports.
The slogan of the tournament is “Be Healthy – and Don’t Do Drugs”.
Meanwhile, in the inaugural match, Vishal Cricket Club drubbed Atman Club XI in a great contest. Batting first Vishal Cricket club scored 149 in 20 overs for 7 wickets. Main scorer of Vishal Club was Chander, who scored 58 runs in 42 balls with 8 fours and 1 six, while Nipun contributed 37 runs in 33 balls with 4 fours. For Atman Club, Kamal and Narinder took 2 wickets each, while Chetan claimed one.
In reply, Atman Club could not chase the target and was bundled out  for 130 runs in 18.5 balls, thus lost the match by 19 runs. Chetan scored 64 runs in 54 balls with 11 fours, while Radhey Sham contributed 11 runs to the total. For Vishal Club, Prashant took 4 wickets, Ravi bagged 2 and Rakesh, Chander and Sahil claimed one wicket apiece. Chander of Vishal Club was adjudged man of the match for his superb batting display.
The match was officiated by Sudhir Singh and Sandeep as umpires, while Yogesh Sharma  & Sanjay Bhatti acted as scorers.
Earlier, in his address, IGP Dilbag Singh lavished praise on the Christian Sports Organization J&K for conducting this Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup on Christmas festival and give platform to all of us to join together and celebrate this festival.
Earlier, Fr Kuriakose  while speaking on the occasion said that sports help the youth not to derail from the main stream.
Asif Gill and David Mattoo are the organizing secretaries of the tournament which is being held under the overall supervision of Rajesh Gill, president of Christian Sports Organization, J&K.
Tomorrow’s Fixture: Christian Sports Organization XI will lock horns with Young XI at and JKP XI will take on Indiana Cricket XI at the same venue.
