JAMMU, Feb 12: Continuing his brilliance with the ball, promising left-arm spinner Vishal Kumar again spun web around the rival batters to take his 4th 5-wicket haul and make his tally of wickets to 41 in the season, just one wicket behind Prerit Dutta of Punjab, the highest wicket taker in the country, who has taken 42 wickets so far, while gutsy young batter Dhruv Sharma impressed one and all with his batting performance against Tripura in the ongoing U-25 CK Nayudu Trophy match at MBB Stadium, Agartala.
Earlier, after a delayed start, put into bat, Tripura bundled out for 156 runs in 56 overs as Vishal Kumar continued to wreak havoc with the ball. Opening batter Bikram Kumar Das was the top scorer with brisk 86 runs off 82 balls, studded with 15 fours and one six, while PP Das (17) and Anandh Bhowmik (12) were the only other batters to cross the double figure mark.
For J&K, Vishal Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 5 important wickets by conceding 24 runs in his 10 overs, while medium pacer Lone Nasir Muzaffar and Taizeem Younis Tak bagged 2 wickets each. Speedster Waseem Bashir claimed one wicket.
In reply, J&K were 103/4 in 26 overs, when bad light stopped play on day-1 today. 15-year old Dhruv Sharma top scored with 43 runs off 74 balls, studded with 7 delectable boundaries, while skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan was at the crease on 25 runs off 39 balls including 3 boundaries. Kawal Preet Singh was the other batter at the crease without opening his account.
For Tripura, Sandip Sarkar took 2 wickets by conceding 10 runs in his 3 overs while Sarukh Hossain and BB Debnath claimed one wicket each.
With 6 wickets in hand, J&K were still trailing by 53 runs.
