Vishvajeet Singh’s thunderous knock hampers Simula chances

BIJBEHARA, Aug 24: A thunderous knock of 47 runs off just 27 balls by all-rounder Vishvajeet Singh helped Ahad Sultan’s to script a narrow win by 3 wickets over the formidable side of Simula Bulls on the penultimate ball of the match of the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at Higher Secondary School Ground, here today.
Put into bat, Simula Bulls scored a fighting total of 147 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Shashi Kumar scored magnificent 59 runs off 51 balls, while Hardeep Singh contributed brilliant 52 runs off 33 balls. Abid Nabi took 2 wickets for Ahad Sultans, while Umar Dar claimed one.
In reply, Ahad Sultans chased  the required target in 19.5 overs, thus winning the match on the penultimate ball through a magnificent six hit by Vishvajeet Singh. Singh carried a murderous onslaught on the rival bowlers and sent them on a leather-hunt all around the park. For his superb knock, he got HDFC man of the match and TCI Maximum sixes award. Ulfat (33), Abid Nabi (23) and Rayees Khanday (18) were the other contributors to the winning cause. For Simula Bulls, Hilal Rather, Sameer Khajuria and Hardeep Singh claimed 2 wickets each.
