JAMMU, Sept 18: Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School, Akalpur Morh, celebrated “World Ozone Day” with the theme “Ozone for Life,” in collaboration with the Department of Ecology, Environment, and Remote-Sensing. The event was held in the school auditorium and attended by dignitaries including Dr. R.K. Saproo, B.L. Saraf, Principal Prof. Annapurna Koul and chief guest Sugandha Mahajan from the Department of Botany, Women’s College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The program featured competitions in painting and a symposium. Maniya Pachada, Ayushi, and Anusha Dhar were recognized as the best speakers, while Plaksha, Yogita Kaif, and Ravish excelled in painting. Participants highlighted the importance of protecting the ozone layer, referencing the Montreal and Kyoto Protocols.
The chief guest emphasized humanity’s responsibility for ozone depletion and the need to reduce chlorofluorocarbons. Verender Dembi also addressed the students, praising their contributions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Sammer Bhat and the distribution of refreshments.
