Vishwakarma Sabha honours meritorious students

Jammu, Sept 20: On the eve of “Vishwakarma Pooja Divas Celebrations”, Pradesh Vishwakarma Sabha (PVS) J&K organized a function to honour the meritorious students and others who have excelled in art, sports and culture at its H.O. Gurha Bakshi Nagar, here today under the chairmanship of Shashi Verma, Working President of the Sabha.
Prithvi Khokhar, Prop/Director National Public School, Noushera was the Chief Guest, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Former VC OBC Advisory Board, Puran Chargotra & R.C. Angotra Former Presidents and R.L. Chargotra, Vice President Akhil Bhartiya Vishwakarma Mahasabha were the guests of honour.
Total 80 students were honoured which included Vishali Verma for M.Sc., Shruti for M.Phil, Rohit Salgotra from Kathua for being Topper in Mechanical Engg, Akanksha Vishwarkarma for 80% marks in B.Tech, Anurudh Virdhi, Ratul Dhiman for 10 CGPA in 10th, Kanika Verma, Rya Verma, Shivani Machyal, Navya Verma, & Divanshu Vishwakarma for CGPA above 9.0 in 10th.
Tania Verma, Shivali from Akhnoor, Sheel Priya, Anjali Verma from Ram Nagar, Narinder Kumar from Kathua, Radhika Rehan and Lakshmi Raina both from Bishnah all were honoured for their CGPA above 9.0 in 12th, Shefali Verma from Hira Nagar was felicitated for her selection in MBBS.
Digiana unit of the Sabha was declared best unit of the year 2015 and its president was also honoured with a memento. Contribution of this unit towards Social works was appreciated. Each of the honoured were issued a “Certificate of Excellence” along with a memento. Shashi Verma, Working Prez of the Sabha and the Chief guest congratulated the honoured students and appreciated their hard work. Vijay Kumar and Jagdish Raj of Shakti Nagar unit appealed the community members to supports the Sabha by all possible means.
A large chunk of Vishwakarma people including women and children from all over the Jammu province attended the programme. Budding singer Vanshika Jaral enthralled the audience by singing a heart touching Vishwakarma Bhajan. Similarly Mukesh Verma form Akhnoor added cheer by dancing on a Punjabi Song.
Students of Verma High School Hakkal presented a group dance thus adding charm to the event.
Earlier in his welcome address Charanjit Bitta, Distt Prez of Sabha told the gathering that our youngsters are pillars of the nation and it is our sole duty to nurture this treasure. He said such functions go a long way towards the morale boosting of the young world. He disclosed that honouring program was first started in 2006 and the tradition is being continued.
Chief Guest while giving away the prizes, disclosed that Vishwakarma Community is made up of creative minds and it is an encouraging sign that they are organizing and moving in the right direction. Special Guests R.L.Chargotra and Kuldip Verma congratulated the Children who were felicitated and praised the organizing team of the Sabha for their tireless  efforts to uplift the community.
Shashi Verma, President of Sabha regretted that Holiday on Vishwakarma Day (The Day following Deepawali) is being pending demand of Vishwakarma Sabha and Govt should accept it. He also thanked all the participants for their cooperation.
Prof. Poonam Angotra and Balwant Kataria (both Educationists) conducted the proceedings of the event. They concluded on the slogans “Khoob Parho, Aagey Barho” for children and “Aspire and inspire” for the eleders.
The organizers team included Vinod Jaral (Press & Media), Jaginder Angotra (Office Secretary), Sham Chargotra (Cashier), Master Sai Dass, Janak Raj Changotra, Lucky Verma (Music & Sound), Raman Chalotra (Refreshment), Rajinder Kumar Verma (Data Collection).
Prominent among those who graced the occasion are Rakesh Chalotra, Sanjay Chalotra, Ravinder Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Romesh Lal, Som Raj, Romesh Angotra etc.
