Vivekanand Kendra celebrates Geeta Jayanti

JAMMU, Dec 9: Vivekanand Kendra Kanyakumari branch Jammu celebrated ‘Geeta Jayanti’ by organising   ‘Geeta Shloka Recitation Contest’ among the students of Fifteen High and Higher Secondary Schools of Jammu City and adjoining areas.
Final inter-school contest was held in NSM College of Education, Anand Nagar Bohri.
Nandni Salotra of BSF Sr.Sec. School Paloura, Priyanka Sharma of Mixed Hr Sec. School Roop Nagar and Manya Gupta of DBN Vidya Mandir Amarvilla got 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Prizes of the winners and participants were given by the chief guest Prof. Dr Vishwamurti Shashtri a well known Sanskrit scholar of Jammu, Pt. Shiv Prasad Raina Presided over the function and Sh Rajinder Kakkad a well known educationist was guest of honour.
Dr O.P.Gupta sanchalak of Jammu branch of Vivekanand Kanyakumari highlighted the importance of Geeta for youth in general and students in particular.
He exhorted upon the students to study Geeta for living a meaningful and dignified life.
Prof Dr Vishwamurthy Shashtri in his adress appreciated the vivekanand kendra for holding such competitions for creating awareness among the youth about the ancient Indian culture.
Pt. Shiv Prasad Raina in his presidential adress advised the students to follow the Geeta in their day to day life for living a purposeful life.
Vote of thanks was presented by Parneesh Mahajan, Chairman NSM Group of Colleges.
Other dignitaries  who were present on the occasion  included Ayodhya Gupta, Keshav Chopra, Puneet Mahajan, Surjeet Singh, Radhey shyam.
