VKK organizes online solo play competition

JAMMU, Apr 19: Viraj Kala Kendra (VKK) Jammu is dedicated to explore the talent of Jammuites through online cultural activities like solo play competitions, poetry recitations and story writing skills during lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative has been taken by the chairperson of the institution, Raj Bharti, a renowned social worker.
A solo play competition was organized as the first event in this series and the entries were received up to April 18, 2020.
According to Rajneesh Gupta, member of the institution, about 19 entries of senior and fresher artists were received.
All the performances were amalgamations of hard work, dedication and creativity. They cover the ideas belonged to the field of drug abuse, women exploitation, patriotism, problems faced by corona patients, cleverness of mind and the wretched life of old-aged people.
It is pertinent to mention here that two little girls  namely Aditi and Aarna Banotra also presented their talent.
In a tough contest, Sapna Soni, who depicted the dilemma and agony of a suspected Corona patient, claimed the first place. The selection of theme was contemporary and the act was in Hindi language.
Rajeshwar Singh Raju bagged the second spot. His performance was in Dogri language with different expressions, moods and flawless pronunciation of words.
Pawan Verma clinched the third prize. He depicted evils prevailing in the society through his act with different expressions of fear, happiness, anxiety and satisfaction. The language was Dogri.
The consolation prizes went to Aditya Bhanu. He depicted the pain and depression of a lonely father whose sons have been settled in abroad. The language was Hindi.
The presentations of Love Anand, Tarun Charak and Anuj Chandel were also found praiseworthy.
According to the organisers, the next event of the series is solo play competition- playing any Epic Character. The duration is of 5 minutes or more but not less than that. The entries will be received by or before April 25, 2020. The language should be Hindi or Dogri.
