Vodafone gifts computers to SOS Village

JAMMU, Oct 30: Under its ‘Gift a Smile’ programme, the Vodafone India handed over five Laptops and five Desktops to the SOS Village for facilitating computer literacy of less privileged children in Jammu.
These desktops will benefit the students who want to learn and explore but don’t have the required resources.
The systems were handed over to Secretary SOS Village, A K Khajuria.
Speaking about the initiative, Asit Shekhar, Business Head, Punjab, HP and J&K Vodafone India, said, “as a value based organization, we at Vodafone believe in making a meaningful contribution towards the society.  This initiative was done keeping with the spirit of Diwali, to spread joy through giving. We wanted that these children should be at par with the rest. These desktops will help them gain basic computer knowledge, which will certainly help them in their future endeavours.”
Secretary SOS Village, Mr Khajuria, while throwing light on functioning of  the NGO and said, “SOS Village  has been created and run in Jammu with an objective of making social welfare activities more broad based. It has been working towards betterment of the lives of orphans in Jammu. This endeavour by Vodafone is a great feat and will benefit children who are willing to learn and explore but lack opportunities.”
