JAMMU, Mar 21: The Inter Zone District Level Tournament under RAMSA in the sports disciplines of Volleyball and Kho-Kho boys under-17 years got underway at GHSS Domana, here today.
In all, 250 boys drawn from various zones of the district are taking part in the Tournament.
The Tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports District Jammu under RAMSA.
Earlier, the Tournament was declared open by Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu in the presence of Rajeev Gupta, ASP Rural Jammu and Dr Karan Singh in a simple and well attended function.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Kour said that studies and sports are two sides of the same coin, so the students need to make balance between the two for better results.
Later-on the trophies and medals were distributed among the winners and runners- up teams of Volleyball and Kho-Kho.
Earlier, in Kho-Kho under 17 boys’ final, RS Pura Zone beat Marh Zone in a close contest by 2 points (11-9). Thus, the first place went to RS Pura Zone, second place to Marh Zone and the third place was claimed by Bhalwal Zone.
In Volleyball under-17 boys, Jourain Zone trounced Akhnoor Zone by 2-0 sets. The first and second place went to Jourian and Akhnoor Zones respectively, while the third place was claimed by RS Pura Zone.
The matches were officiated by Tilak Raj, Jeet Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Amit Kumar, Ravinder Singh, Sumit, Sham Singh, Ravi Sharma, Vishal, Poonam, Balwan Singh and Kulveer Singh.
