POONCH, Nov 12: In connection with Poonch Link-up Day, Volleyball and Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament is being organized by 93 Brigade in collaboration with Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), which got underway, here today.
SSP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain was the chief guest on the inaugural function, while DySP DAR, Mohd Qureshi, SAI hockey coach, Sham Lal Sharma, besides S Amrik Singh, Pawan Kumar Sharma and RS Toofan were present on the occasion.
Nirdosh Kumar is the organizing secretary of Volleyball, Vijay Kumar is the organizing secretary of Tennis Ball Cricket event.
Earlier, in Tennis Ball Cricket, Purani Poonch drubbed Stadium XI in an easy contest by 49 runs. Batting first, Purani Poonch scored fighting total of 84 runs in the allotted 12 overs. Pawan Kumar was the top scorer with 27 runs, while in reply, Stadium XI bundled out for a paltry total of 35 runs. Jatinder Singh scalped 4 wickets for Purani Poonch.
In Volleyball, Pinto Club thrashed Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch in three straight sets (3-0) in the inaugural match by (25-17, 25-10, 25-11). Purani Poonch players displayed superb smashing and lifting skills and dominated the game from the word go.
