JAMMU, Apr 3: VRS employees of J&K SRTC today staged a dharna in front of the office of Managing Director (MD), J&K SRTC, Rail Head Complex, here, warning the SRTC management and the Government to clear their dues.
The dharna was held under the leadership of president, All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retirement Employees Association, Dev Raj Bali and general secretary, Surinder Singh.
Addressing the protesting VRS employees, both the Association leaders strongly criticized role of the management of J&K SRTC and State Finance Department, alleging that both are in hand in glove with each other and whatever funds are received by them for clearance of dues of VRS employees are misused by them and diverted to other side for their personal interests.
“VRS employees have been suffering unnecessarily for last three years. They are protesting and holding dharnas for getting their dues, but their demands didn’t fall into the deaf ears of SRTC management and the Finance Department remained mute spectators”, Bali said.
Surinder Singh said that in-service and fresh retired employees of SRTC have been given the benefits of 6th Pay Commission but 670 VRS employees have been deprived of these benefits, which is utter violation of rules and regulations.
The Association members warned the Government to clear dues of VRS employees, release 6th Pay Commission arrears to them with effect from Jan 1, 2006, 126 slabs of Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) with effect from 1999, pending arrears, etc and appealed the Central as well State Government to conduct an enquiry into the matter that why 670 VRS employees have been exempted from giving 126 slabs of COLA with effect from January 1, 2006.
