JAMMU, Nov 13: Minister for R&B and senior Congress leader contesting elections from Doda segment today said that he would continue to work for Doda constituency as its custodian.
Addressing series of public meetings at Hanch, Zahand, Jijhote and Gwalote in Gundna block in Doda constituency today, Mr Wani declared that he would continue to work as custodian of Doda constituency. Majid Wani, further said that his father Khawaja Ghulam Ahmad Wani had motivated him to join politics and contest assembly elections during year 2002 against the then MOS Khalid Najib Suhrawardy only to provide an opportunity to people to choose such candidate as their MLA, who is totally secular and has keen interest in serving people and improving general condition of people especially from the rural masses. There was poor road connectivity and very low literacy rate and people were left on the mercy of God.
Mr Wani cautioned people not to fall prey in hands of communal and opportunist forces. He said such forces, during militancy in Doda district and Amarnath land row, had tried to vitiate communal harmony in Doda constituency but could not succeed. Referring to BJP, he alleged that this party always tried to create polarization and divide people on communal lines. He asked people to remain vigilant from such forces.
Prominent among those who addressed meetings included Najib-ur-Rehman Fani, Vishal Bhagat and Irshad Ahmed.
