Wanted Hurriyat leader arrested

Srinagar, Dec 28: Police today arrested a ‘wanted’ leader of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference, Abdul Gani Bhat, from Sopore Town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official said police arrested Bhat alias Gani Guroo of Baba Raza locality of Sopore from local court in Sopore today. The official said that the Hurriyat leader, also said to be close aide of separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani, has been lodged in Sopore police station.
The arrested Hurriyat leader was wanted as he was involved in organizing anti-India protests since July 8 and was evading police raids since last four months. Several warrants were issued by a court in Baramulla against Guroo as several cases are lodged against him.
