Waryam Memorial Hockey Championship gets underway

POONCH, Nov 28: 17th Waryam Memorial Hockey Championship got underway, here today.
The tournament was declared open by Jehangir Hussain Mir, MLC in an impressive and well attended function.
The Championship is being organized by S Manjeet Singh, secretary Waryam Singh Hockey Club Poonch. In this championship, a combined team of Jammu and Hiranagar is also participating.
After the opening ceremony, an exhibition match was played between Waryam Club and Degree College team.
The match won by Waryam Club by defeating Degree College team by 5-0. Chani Singh scored the first and second goal in 17th and 21st minute. Gurdev scored 3rd and 4th goal in 35th and 47th minute. Later Matinderpal Singh scored the fifth goal.
Makhan Lal Sharma, Principal Higher Secondary School Boys is the chief organizer of the championship.
Earlier, Mohd Tariq Khan, secretary Shahed Manjeet Singh Club,  welcomed the guests and briefed about the activities of the Club. Vice president Waryam Club Pushkar Raj and SP Shamsheer Hussain also spoke on the occasion.
