Watch & Ward employees of BSNL towers demand release of salary

JAMMU, Apr 1: Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice (MPEJ) have demanded the release of pending 12 months’ salary of Watch & Ward employees of BSNL towers in J&K UT & 12 months’ rent of the tower sites.
In a handout MPEJ members urged the PM and Telecommunication Minister to personally intervene into the matter and ensure that wages of Watch and Ward employees on this count are released on monthly basis without any delay in future and credited to the respective accounts.
They also demanded fixing of rent as per that of private companies like Airtel, Reliance Jio, Idea, Vodapone etc at the rate of Rs. 10,000 per month in Municipal limits and Rs. 7000 in rural areas and also salary enhancement of Watch & Ward employees from Rs. 3000 to 5000 per month at par with private companies.
They said otherwise BSNL should remove all of its towers from J&K.
