JAMMU, June 29: Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Kiran Wattal today flagged off ‘Read The Himalayas’ Cycling Expedition to Lakhanpur from M A Stadium here.
The expedition is being organized by J&K Cycling Association.
It is for the first time cycling expedition ‘Read The Himalayas’ Cycling Expedition from Srinagar to Lakhanpur via Mughal Road was organized to promote game of cycling among youth of the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Wattal lauded efforts of the youth taking part in this expedition.
He assured all help to the association for the promotion of game of cycling among youth of the State and asked its members to organize more and more such events.
Earlier, the Expedition was flagged off by S Ravinder Singh, president, J&K Cycling Association from Press Colony, Srinagar on June 27, 2014 in presence of GN Kasba, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation; Talat Parvez, Director Tourism (Kashmir) and Sheikh Tulal Ahmed, Manager Indoor Stadium.
The Expedition enrouting Mughal Road reached Jammu on June 28, 2014 evening and the team was flagged off for final destination Lakhanpur today by Kiran Wattal, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation in presence of Dr Ashutosh Sharma, vice-president, Cycling Federation of India and general secretary, J&K Olympic Association; Vijay Saraf, vice-president, Wushu Federation of India; Sudhir Kumar, general secretary, J&K Rifle Association; Om Parkash Sharma, general secretary, J&K Cycling Association; Ravi Salgotra, treasurer, J&K Cycling Association, besides other officials and sportspersons.
