SRINAGAR, Feb 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) commended the consistent performance of the J&K Ranji team, stating that their victories are no longer viewed as surprises.
JKCA member Manzoor Wazir acknowledged the team’s progress but stressed the need for continued improvement in both performance and infrastructure.
“While we have started seeing consistent victories, we cannot afford to be complacent. We need to enhance both our game and our facilities,” said Wazir. He specifically pointed out that the stadium infrastructure across Kashmir and Jammu needs an upgrade, citing that the Srinagar stadium was in better condition 40 years ago. However, he expressed optimism for future improvements.
Former Ranji player Parvaiz Ahmad also praised the team for their performance and resilience. “Though we expected a victory in the Ranji Trophy this year, the team has faced many challenges. They truly deserve the luxury of five-star accommodations now,” said Ahmad. He highlighted the team’s composure in both victory and defeat, particularly pointing to Umar Nazir’s dignified dismissal of Rohit Sharma. Ahmad also spoke on the heartbreak of a recent loss to Kerala, commending the players’ dignity in handling the defeat.
