JAMMU, Feb 25: Mitrabaha Guha of West Bengal emerged as sole leader after seven rounds in ongoing National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship, organized by Crown Trust under the banner of All J&K Chess Association and J&K Sports Council at Kangra Fort Banquet Hall Barnai, here today.
DBC Prasad of Andhra Pradesh, Raja Ritvik of Telangana and Mohammad Nubair Sheikh of Maharashtra were jointly secured at 2nd spot.
A total of 180 persons including 130 players and officials from 23 States are participating in the championship along with 22 Grandmasters and International Masters.
The events also carry total cash prizes of Rs 6.50 lacs which will be distributed among top players after the championship.
Today’s rounds were inaugurated by Dr AS. Bhatia Principal GMC Rajouri, Senior Prosecution Officer Raj Kumar, Kuljeet Singh Jamwal Adv. Himani Kohli, Excise Inspector Vikas Nanda , CA Vikas Dharmania and Industrialist Amit Mahajan.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association, Baldev Raj, Arvindu Sharma, Ritish Pathania and others were present during the event.
Saleem Beig of Karnataka is the chief arbiter of the event, while Arvind Mahamal from Goa is deputy chief arbiter along with other arbiters Bindu Pathania, Dinesh Gera, Ranjeet Singh and Mansha Mahajan.
